The Gillian Clarke poem which has the most profound effect on me is 'Neighbours', which tells the reader of the widespread consequences of the Chernobyl disaster. I recall taking my daughter, my firstborn child, in her pram along the prom in Aberystwyth and the rain starting to fall as I walked. That evening the news was of radioactive rainfall and the discovery of its source...Eleven years later, I had two children who lived in the vicinity of Chernobyl to stay with me for a couple of weeks respite. Very best wishes to you, Dave, from Stephanie Burgess.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7998901375162827260.post-63955483891733260342017-02-13T18:52:08.338+00:002017-02-13T18:52:08.338+00:00Great poem!Great poem!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7998901375162827260.post-55874571930576081802017-02-13T18:51:12.738+00:002017-02-13T18:51:12.738+00:00Nice poem!Nice poem!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7998901375162827260.post-91320725437995313912016-02-14T13:01:49.285+00:002016-02-14T13:01:49.285+00:00thank you kindly for your comments, yes a wonderf...thank you kindly for your comments, yes a wonderful evocative poem. I love the way the poet describes the nurses as "frozen", they do not expect miracles and professionally, are at a loss, whereas the patients, frozen in their depression and other psychiatric conditions, begin to stir into life like the spring flowers outside ,as this big, dumb man not only speaks for the first time in years but recites a poem he learned as a child ,his memory awoken by the poet's own poetry reading. I love everything Gillian Clarke has written but this is one of my favourites.Sheila Jacobhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02566173389327645147noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7998901375162827260.post-65076737419091885362014-10-20T11:55:07.109+01:002014-10-20T11:55:07.109+01:00Oh well ... never mind eh....Oh well ... never mind eh....teifidancerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14476044378212084216noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7998901375162827260.post-53796336442383024422014-10-19T12:11:00.599+01:002014-10-19T12:11:00.599+01:00BANTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...BANTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7998901375162827260.post-31705823496424636772014-09-13T12:12:19.470+01:002014-09-13T12:12:19.470+01:00try again.... look , it becomes clear...regards.try again.... look , it becomes clear...regards.teifidancerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14476044378212084216noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7998901375162827260.post-86229835311496442702014-09-12T18:31:18.264+01:002014-09-12T18:31:18.264+01:00i don't understand it :si don't understand it :sAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
