Around the world, Christmas signals joy and celebration. In Palestine, it also means resistance to the occupation. Palestinian Christians, just like Muslims are regularly denied entry to occupied Al-Quds (Jerusalem) and they resist together .
Only the Palestinians, the original Christians and Muslims, are not allowed the material joys and comforts of the rest of the world. No matter, their spirit alone lights up Jerusalem. For years, Palestinian demonstrators have taken to the streets dressed as Santa Claus, confronting Israeli forces with symbols of festivity turned defiant.
May this season bring moments of peace, resilience, and hope, and may the coming year carry justice, dignity, and a brighter future for all the people of Palestine who, from Bethlehem to Nazareth, from Jerusalem to Haifa, from Jaffa, Ramallah, Taybeh, Fassouta, Tarshiha, Shefa Amr, to Gaza, continue to suffer under the boot of oppression and the fires of genocide. And let's build a better world . I Hope that warmth and light endures, even in the most difficult of times. 🍉
