Delighted to pop into my local Oxfam last week and see Gaza Cola on the shelves. Gaza Cola is an ethical, Palestinian-owned soft drink sold in select UK Oxfam charity shops. Created in London as a "guilt-free" independent choice symbolizing resistance, unity, and conscious consumerism by filmmaker and activist Osama Qashoo, 100% of the profits from the drink go toward humanitarian aid and community projects in Gaza, such rebuilding Al-Karama Hospital, which was bombed and leveled in northern Gaza.
Qashoo first had the idea for Gaza Cola in November 2023. The red can features the Palestinian flag, “Gaza Cola” written in Arabic calligraphy, and a pattern riffing on the Palestinian keffiyeh, the scarf often worn as a symbol of resistance.
Produced by Palestine House, a cultural organisation and non profit community interest company in London. Each can of Gaza Cola not only represents the values of justice and freedom, it offers an apartheid-free, genocide-free and guilt-free choice.
